LEAFY GREEN + WHITE ROSE + GYPSOPHILA // ROSE TINTED FLOWER CROWN

Rose Tinted Photography

I created this lush flower crown for a sweet soul named Maiya Jane. The intent was to keep it really fresh. I used leafy greens dotted with gyspophila, miniature spray roses, and a couple of white rose buds. It can be worn with the fuller section to the front, or to the side as I have modelled it here. I think the latter suits a simple side braid, or a messy chignon.

For this shoot, I wore this floaty crepe chiffon shirt with frilled sleeves that I picked up from a cute boutique in Shaoxing, China. It was in keeping with the fresh white wall, and it also really suited the style of the crown. I also imagine a cotton white summer dress with eyelet embroidery would look lovely. Perfect picnic date attire!

Special thanks to my hunk of a husband for snapping the photos of me. Also for being patient with my fussiness as I'm much more accustomed to being behind the lens.

PLUM FLORAL WEDDING // LEANN AND HER BRIDESMAIDS

Photography: Emily Millay
Makeup: Karisa Tondo Kramer

It's always a real treat to see my custom flower crowns come to life on a gorgeous bridal party. It's also a real joy to get to know my clients as we consult over colours, flowers and designs. I can tell you that Leann is an absolute gem with a real friendly nature. I think her bright smile is evident of this fact. And so she should be ecstatic. She had been with her beau Mike for over 8 years before they tied the knot! Don't you just love a good love story?

She is an absolute visionary and I just love how the look pulls together so beautifully. Those stunning gowns combined with the most incredible bouquets. It's enough to make you sigh.

HOT PINK ROSE TINTED FLOWER CROWN // FOR ROSE, USING ROSES

There's a lot of Rose's in that title! I probably broke some rule in grammar but they are all for different nouns / proper nouns. The first one being my name brand, the second being the name of the lovely lady I made it for, and the third being the type of flower I used to make it!

This is quite different to anything else I've made yet, and I really love it! At the moment, I am not currently taking or making orders for the next couple of months as I am about to relocate countries. But if you have some ideas for one feel free to email me and I will get back to you to discuss your dream crown! rosetintedillustration@gmail.com

Rose Tinted Flower Crown

I made this flower crown for a new friend called Renee who was recommended to me via Alli K, whose photograph's you might remember from this post in April. Renee is super sweet and enthusiastic, and we instantly bonded over a love for wearing flower crowns!

SWEET LITTLE FLOWER CROWN // LAVENDER + LILY OF THE VALLEY + HYDRANGEA PETALS

I made this gorgeous wee flower crown for my friend's adorable daughter (Kalista) as her 5th birthday present! I can't get over how adorable and small it is. She is going to look ever so cute! I used lilac coloured ribbon to finish it in a bow (which is both cute and clever cause the size is adjustable).

Darling little Kalista saw this Lavender Flower Crown at my stall at the Ponsonby Craft Market (which is coming up again on the 12th July) and she fell in love with it. Apparently she hasn't stopped asking Mum & Dad when she will get it.

I love making these beauties! x

"YOU'RE MY SWEETHEART" // HAND PAINTED ILLUSTRATIVE DESIGN

Photographs by Stephan and Nakita

You may remember last month we had our Anniversary shoot with our good friends Stephan & Nakita who are such talented photographer's and a wonderful pair.

I wanted to design some stationery to go with the shoot. I have been so in love with gorgeous floral invitations which I have documented on my Typography & Invitation Design pin board. I adore the look of pastel paint on brown paper (for this I used an exceptional metallic piece). I painted pale mint leaves with soft pink ranunculus blooms and white lily of the valley to frame the paper. I used a handwritten script font in white to convey a message for my beloved.

I would love to recreate this as a wedding invite! I would put the couple's name in the same script type I used for the wording and add the information in the lower right quadrant in a clean, capitalised font (sans serif for sure). I love to design wedding stationery, so flick me an email (rosetintedillustration@gmail.com) if you would like a custom illustrated design. It doesn't have to be a wedding either, I can design for any occasion such as a 21st or special birthday, a baby shower or an anniversary. I'd love to hear from you!

GIANT HANDMADE BLOOMS // BY TIFFANIE TURNER

Handmade Blooms by Tiffanie Turner

I am blown away by just how beautiful these handmade paper blooms are! Crafted by San Francisco Artist Tiffanie Turner who is also the maker behind Papel SF. My good friend/sister-in-law Eloise shared the link to this post by The Jealous Curator knowing I would love it!

There's something amazing and intriguing about things that are made on a large scale (or miniature for that matter). The time and skill it would take to make something like this is so admirable. Tiffanie has posted tutorials on how to make these beauties which you can view here.

ROSE TINTED FLOWER CROWNS

Rose Tinted Photography
Flower Crowns : Maree of Rose Tinted Illustration
Model & Make-up Artistry : Chelsea Ho

As you may know by now, I love flower crowns. I also love making my own and have made a number of pretty floral headpieces. Here is a little shoot I did on the weekend with the beautiful Chelsea Ho who is also a very talented make-up artist. (Click here to like her facebook make-up artistry page). I told her my vision of soft lilac eye-shadow and deep rose pink lips, soft & feminine. She captured it exactly as I had imagined it! She looked stunning.

Every flower crown I make is a unique one off piece. I can recreate similar combinations of colours and flowers but I like to do something different for each creation. If you would like your own custom flower crown or would like to ask about any of the above designs, send me an email to rosetintedillustration@gmail.com. You can request your ideal flower and colour combinations to your liking and I will do my absolute best to create something you'll love!

I will be selling these beauties, along with my illlustration prints, at an upcoming Art & Craft Market in Auckland. Keep posted to find out more information about this but for now I can tell you it will be on May 10th. It's going to be a great day with some amazing vendors.

I will also be selling these at Tiny Space store in St Kevins Arcade, Auckland Central if you would like to come see them in person. Whilst your there, have a look at the amazing leather handbag collection and try on some pretty jewellery.

HANDMADE FLOWER CROWN // FUSHIA, CORAL & MULBERRY

Custom handmade by Maree of Rose Tinted
Rose Tinted Photography

I made this crown for a lovely lady for her to wear on her birthday coming up. She let me know the palette and gave me a couple of reference images (she particularly liked this one I made) and gave me free rein on flower choices! I chose to make a crown of peonies, roses, hydrangea & orchids all in these gem tones.

I love making & wearing these beauties. If you would like one for yourself, or know someone else who might, don't hesitate to flick me an email. (rosetintedillustration@gmail.com) I'd joyfully make one for you and I'm happy to do a custom order if you have a specific floral range or colour palette in mind.

I'll be making some for a bridal party, which I'm very excited about! I'd love to do more wedding crowns. I'm thinking it might be time to open an etsy store to sell my flower crowns and illustration prints. But it depends on how much my arm gets twisted...

If you love this post please pin it to your pinterest! x

MY SISTER'S WEDDING // PART TWO : STYLING & DECOR

Rose Tinted Photography

BLUE, forest, hand painted animal figurines, rustic, wood, chevron, stripes, clean white, brown craft paper, glass bell jars, handmade woodcut coaster, love logo, deer, babies breath, queen anne's lace, white frosting cakes on tree stump cake stands & glass coca-cola bottles.

My sister Melody had a very clear idea of what she wanted for her wedding in terms of styling. The ideal venue would be a barn for the reception. To have this in Auckland, NZ seemed a near impossible task (We have a shortage of venues that allow 180 guests with self-catering). But after asking around, a couple of friends sent her this video from Matt & Jomine's DIY Barn wedding. It was perfect! Also a bonus that it was right next to a forest (which is another ideal for her big day.) Cindy and Mark who are the owner's of this private residence, are Pastor's at Urban Vineyard Church and are two of the most self-less, generous and servant-hearted people I've met. They went above and beyond to help us set up for this wedding and get this barn into shape.

Our Dad put 100% into helping make this look amazing. Hours spent cutting wood into chargers, assembling a backdrop out of wood (with help from the groom, Andrew) for behind the bridal table, and making the coasters for the guest favours. My sister who is a graphic designer, put together a love logo with their intitials. Dad had this made into a stamp to be inked onto the coasters as a little keepsake from the day.

The week prior to the wedding was spent hanging the branches with fairylights above the tables, covering a bright yellow wall with craft paper, cutting the table cloths and table runner's to size, arranging the floral, laying the table settings, placing name cards, suspending lights, setting up tables & chairs, cleaning toilets, sweeping, tidying, transporting everything to the venue, lifting & moving heavy furniture, drawing a forest with chalk, making the best chocolate brownie (Laura) for the helpers and the list goes on and on.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE that helped. Especially to the Father's of the newly weds who spent the whole week at the barn everyday setting up, Melody & Andrew (obviously) for finally getting married, and putting so much hard work into your big day, the mother's of the newly weds who put so much love and care into anything they helped with, the bridal party who helped constantly through the whole engagement, anyone who helped on the day whether it be with pack down, kitchen duty, transporting things from ceremony to reception, Cindy & Mark Brickell for hosting us on their property and for all your help (it was a pleasure getting to know you), Grandma Jean Symons for the cake, Martin & Vicky Duffy for running the catering & food side of things for the shared meal and anyone who did anything to contribute to this epic day.

To see the official wedding photo's by the talented Stephan & Nakita, keep an eye on their website! They are amazing, honestly! Thanks for capturing the day and giving us all images to treasure it by.

I was honoured to help with setting up; for doing the floral and helping with decoration ideas (I'm claiming the bell jars). It was a pleasure to help make your day really special! xox
