LEAFY GREEN + WHITE ROSE + GYPSOPHILA // ROSE TINTED FLOWER CROWN

Rose Tinted Photography

I created this lush flower crown for a sweet soul named Maiya Jane. The intent was to keep it really fresh. I used leafy greens dotted with gyspophila, miniature spray roses, and a couple of white rose buds. It can be worn with the fuller section to the front, or to the side as I have modelled it here. I think the latter suits a simple side braid, or a messy chignon.

For this shoot, I wore this floaty crepe chiffon shirt with frilled sleeves that I picked up from a cute boutique in Shaoxing, China. It was in keeping with the fresh white wall, and it also really suited the style of the crown. I also imagine a cotton white summer dress with eyelet embroidery would look lovely. Perfect picnic date attire!

Special thanks to my hunk of a husband for snapping the photos of me. Also for being patient with my fussiness as I'm much more accustomed to being behind the lens.

MY SISTER'S WEDDING // PART ONE

Rose Tinted Photography
Wedding dress: Handmade by our wonderful Mother
Bouquets by Maree of Rose Tinted

My sister Melody recently got married and she was such a beautiful bride. As tradition stands, our mother made the wedding dress in a simple & elegant style. My sister is certainly not a frills and embellishment kind of girl and so this suited her to a tee (which is in fact what she'd rather be wearing most days). It was made from a soft stretch fabric with a top layer of delicate patterned lace which draped beautifully. She wore blue crochet lace toms which were fun & also comfortable.

I helped with the styling (images to follow in another post) and I also arranged all the floral. The bride & her bridesmaids all carried a bouquet of babies breath (gypsophila) which is such a delicate bloom. It looked lovely with miniature stems tucked into her waterfall braid over her walnut tresses.

I captured the above images in the morning during the bridal preparation which is my favourite time to take photographs. I love the excitement and the butterflies. I loved seeing Melody for the first time as a bride! I loved the cheerful/teary reactions by her four best friends. The smile on my mum's face, my dad looking proud. There's nothing like it. It's very intimate and the moments of the countdown are precious.

Stay tuned to see the official wedding photo's by my super talented friends Stephan & Nakita! Keep an eye on their website to see stunning images from the day, and to see the story as it unfolded!

PINTEREST PRETTIES // OMBRÉ HAIR

At the moment my hair is ombré which basically means it graduates from brunette to blonde at the ends. To be completely honest, it was at first unintentional, I just hadn't gotten my hair highlighted for some months. But the more my regrowth grew out,  the more I liked it. You see I've been toying with the idea of going brunette for a few years now, but I like my blond too much to let it go. I was more blond as a child so it just feels like it's my true self. But like many others, my hair darkened to a light brown with age.

I've found this is a great way to have the best of both!! Plus it works great all year round by looking beachy in Summer and earthy in Autumn. The other thing I've been trying to do for the last 5 years (or possibly my whole life) is grow my hair out really long, like down my back. I'm getting there, but very slowly...
