FOREST ANIMAL WATERCOLOUR PAINTINGS // MARIE WADE ILLUSTRATION
All works by Marie Wade Illustration
My heart leapt a little (much like that little jackrabbit), when I saw these beautifully painted foxes, deer and rabbits. They are meticulously painted by my friend of Marie Wade Illustration. Her works have such intricate detail and she manages to apply such control to a very fluid and often hard to control medium. Plus who doesn't love super cute forest animals?
Marie and I met at my cousin's 21st birthday when we were both in our first year at Art School doing a Bachelor of Visual Arts. She did her degree at AUT, and I at MSVA via UoA. It was very strange indeed to meet someone with such similar interests in just about everything. Not to mention the same name.. only spelt differently. We both liked illustration and art (obviously), shared a faith, had a similar taste in music, a knack for sewing, and a love for clothing and vintage.Which I suppose isn't that bizarre since Art Students tend to like the alternative and creative things in life. But it was really great to meet her and her twin Jenna who are to this day, two of the most stylish and lovely ladies I have met.
Go ahead and check out her Art blog updated with all her illustrated works and also give her facebook page a like! x

"YOU'RE MY SWEETHEART" // HAND PAINTED ILLUSTRATIVE DESIGN
Photographs by Stephan and Nakita
I wanted to design some stationery to go with the shoot. I have been so in love with gorgeous floral invitations which I have documented on my Typography & Invitation Design pin board. I adore the look of pastel paint on brown paper (for this I used an exceptional metallic piece). I painted pale mint leaves with soft pink ranunculus blooms and white lily of the valley to frame the paper. I used a handwritten script font in white to convey a message for my beloved.
I would love to recreate this as a wedding invite! I would put the couple's name in the same script type I used for the wording and add the information in the lower right quadrant in a clean, capitalised font (sans serif for sure). I love to design wedding stationery, so flick me an email (rosetintedillustration@gmail.com) if you would like a custom illustrated design. It doesn't have to be a wedding either, I can design for any occasion such as a 21st or special birthday, a baby shower or an anniversary. I'd love to hear from you!

SKETCHBOOK PROJECT // ROSE TINTED ILLUSTRATION
Peony Flower Crown : Handmade by myself
My sketchbook is a quiet little place where I can play and explore drawing in a simple and experimental manner. It is for observation and the quick freehand sketch. It is free from the formalities of a "Rose Tinted Illustration" which I spend hours refining. It uses an 8B pencil mostly, which provides dark and soft tones to achieve my desired effect. It is a cheap, bound sketchbook that has thick cream paper and front & back covers of plain brown paper (which I am nervous about illustrating on). It is a compilation of ideas and designs. It is dedicated to drawing things I love.
Yes I know it's naughty and wasteful to only draw on one side of the sketchbook, but I can't stand drawing when I can see lines showing through!

PAPER DOLL ILLUSTRATIONS // BY STARDUST SOUL
Paper Doll illustrations by Anto of Stardust Soul
Seriously wow! I am absolutely smitten with these super cute and very stylish paper doll illustrations by Anto of Stardust Soul. You must visit her blog! It is full of pretty things and although I only just discovered it a few minutes ago, it's already my new favourite read.
I've always loved paper dolls, I was very fond of them as a child and had a large file full of them. I've been thinking of doing something similar for awhile now using my own clothes. That way I can plan outfits in advance. This would be particularly helpful for the six weddings I'm attending this Summer! I don't want to wear the same thing cause where's the fun in that?
A paper doll is something that would be a lovely idea to send to a young girl sponsor child if you have one (please consider it! If everyone did we could seriously change the world).
Anto has very kindly offered these as a free printable over on her blog! I can't wait to print them out and go back to playing with doll clothes. I love the style of these clothes! You should know by now that I am a sucker for all things floral, pastel or lace. But I can also really see my sister Eloise from Jazz Lips & Tulips wearing a lot of these garments. Especially those peg leg pants and cute jumpers!

VINTAGE WATERCOLOUR ILLUSTRATION
I love vintage imagery. There is something so romantic about an illustration that has taken time, observation, skill and effort. I found this watercolour painting of roses in one of those old "How to paint with Watercolour" books and I find it so beautiful and inspiring.

SINGER/SONGWRITER: ASHLEY MAY // WITH ROSE TINTED ILLUSTRATION

Photography, Design & Illustration : Maree of Rose Tinted
If you remember these photograph's I took of my beautiful friend Ashley May, you will know they were part of a shoot to get an image to illustrate her portrait. Here is the complete illustration, and the CD cover design for her first single feathers which I am so excited about! She has the most amazing voice and I just love hearing her sing. I can't wait to have a recording of her so I can hear it whenever I like.

LAURA ILLUSTRATION // WITH REBECCA HALLIWELL PHOTOGRAPHY
Illustrated by : Maree of Rose Tinted Illustration
Photograph by : Rebecca Halliwell of Flowers & Dirt
Model : Laura Nicole
Dress : Zara
For this Illustration I collaborated with British Photographer Rebecca Halliwell who also shares a love of flowers, fashion and femininity. She also runs a lovely blog called Flowers and Dirt which you should certainly stop by for some inspiration.
I really enjoyed working on this one! The best thing about drawing on coloured paper is that both light and dark tones show up. This was perfect for capturing Laura's dark eyes and platinum blonde hair (I'm so jealous, I wish I could rock near-white hair!) There is something quite wonderful about drawing with white coloured pencil, it's like drawing with rays of light. Plus how gorgeous is her Zara dress?
