PEACH ROSE, MINT EUCALYPTUS & BLUE HYDRANGEA FLOWER CROWNS // FOR NYSSA

Rose Tinted Photography (c)

When my beautiful friend Nyssa sent me the inspirational photos for her wedding floral, I was swooning. I couldn't wait to get out there to start finding the silk blooms so I could start making the floral pieces for her bridal party. It's such a creative combination of colours and floral that is extraordinarily different to anything I've seen. And I've seen quite a bit thanks mostly to Pinterest & Instagram.

I used peachy pink David Austin roses, peach & pink miniature roses, tulips, blue hydrangea, as well as some silver toned greenery such as eucalyptus and rabbit's ear.

If you are itching to see how the blushing bride looked on her big day, I've recently shared an image to my Facebook page that you can check out.

Get in touch if you are after a flower crown or hair piece! I love custom creating these beauties. x

BUTTERFLIES // ROSE TINTED ILLUSTRATION

I love drawing butterflies. They are so pretty. I love their symmetry and the patterns on their wings.

Once I went to the museum with a couple of good friends. We were in the section that has all the taxidermy insects and bugs. I remember when we opened the drawer with all the butterflies, we all just sighed in adoration for these winged creatures. Didn't quite have the same reaction with the tarantula drawer...

ROSE TINTED INSTAGRAM

I'm on instagram! Your welcome to follow me by viewing my profile here. I've had it for a little while but haven't really put it to good use until recently. I can see why people love it so much! I love following other creatives and seeing what they post. I love beautiful imagery and this is a constant source of inspiration.

I'm trying to update it once daily which has been a good way for me to keep a creative discipline. I've been balancing my feed between photography, illustration, design and flower crowns to give it some differentiation.

ROSE TINTED LOGO DESIGN

Awhile ago I painted these peonies just for fun and then I made it into a possible logo design. Now I'm contemplating a whole re-brand... What do you think?

THE BRIDEMAIDS CLUB // ROSE TINTED ILLUSTRATED PACKAGING

Rose Tinted Illustration, Design & Photography

You may have already seen this image on my facebook page or on my instagram but I just thought I'd share it here too! This is the illustrated brown paper bags I created for the Flower Crowns of the beautiful Esther-Faith and her bridesmaids. We did this sweet thing where she came up with three words to describe each of her bridesmaids and I wrote it as part of the design.

I love gift wrapping and so I tend to go all out, which you will know if you have ever purchased a Rose Tinted Flower Crown. I also like to use vintage vogue pattern pieces as tissue paper for a nice touch.

I have to wait patiently until post wedding to share photos of the flower crowns, but I can tell you now that they are some of my favourite creations.

MY BEAUTIFUL AUNTY AVERIL // AN ILLUSTRATION

(c) Rose Tinted Illustration

I am very blessed to know this woman, let alone share the same blood. She is fun-loving, optimistic and slightly cheeky, plus she gives some of the best hugs. She is the vibrant, warm colours of Autumn and she wears them well too. The photo reference I had for this illustration was in black and white but I couldn't resist drawing her in colour. It suits her better.

She hasn't had it easy, in fact her life has been quite difficult to say the least. Though she has always maintained a sense of optimism and grace through hardship. Admirable qualities of an inspirational woman. She is currently battling cancer. It started in her breasts and after a double mastectomy we all thought it had gone. But no, it has now spread to her bones. It is such a cruel disease and it affects so many lives. I've heard that when a person gets cancer, so does a family, a community even. It's true. But it also means there is a whole rally of people who are willing and able to support that person.

Today is my Aunty Averil's birthday and for her gift I illustrated her portrait. It was my mother's idea and being the two youngest in a family of six children, they are both sisters and best friends.

Isn't she gorgeous? x

BOHO BEAUTY // ROSE TINTED ILLUSTRATION

One of my recent bohemian inspired illustrations that I created for a competition run by Spell Designs for their new tote bag. Love their aesthetic, you've got to check out their website! All those lovely boho clothes that you see on pinterest are most likely by them.

"YOU'RE MY SWEETHEART" // HAND PAINTED ILLUSTRATIVE DESIGN

Photographs by Stephan and Nakita

You may remember last month we had our Anniversary shoot with our good friends Stephan & Nakita who are such talented photographer's and a wonderful pair.

I wanted to design some stationery to go with the shoot. I have been so in love with gorgeous floral invitations which I have documented on my Typography & Invitation Design pin board. I adore the look of pastel paint on brown paper (for this I used an exceptional metallic piece). I painted pale mint leaves with soft pink ranunculus blooms and white lily of the valley to frame the paper. I used a handwritten script font in white to convey a message for my beloved.

I would love to recreate this as a wedding invite! I would put the couple's name in the same script type I used for the wording and add the information in the lower right quadrant in a clean, capitalised font (sans serif for sure). I love to design wedding stationery, so flick me an email (rosetintedillustration@gmail.com) if you would like a custom illustrated design. It doesn't have to be a wedding either, I can design for any occasion such as a 21st or special birthday, a baby shower or an anniversary. I'd love to hear from you!

THE CRAFT MARKET // A ROSE TINTED STALL

I had such a wonderful time at the craft market at Ponsonby Art Station on the weekend! It was really lovely meeting many wonderful people and I felt so encouraged by the kind words and compliments of my work. I had a great time styling my stall with my creations and it was nice to be in a sunny room. It was a fantastic venue for a market with many rooms for the exhibitors. I loved meeting and talking with the other amazing vendors and overall it was just a really great day! Thanks to Laura Giddey for organising this event, hopefully there will be more to come!

Thanks to my beautiful friend Soo Jeong for posing for a pic of her in a Rose Tinted Crown that matched her lipstick!

HYDRANGEA ILLUSTRATION

(c) Rose Tinted Illustration

I illustrated this pretty hydrangea for my sister-in-law and close friend Eloise Georgia Mae. She has since gotten it tattooed on the back of her upper arm and it looks lovely! If you keep an eye on her blog, she may share an image of it at some point.

YIELDING FRUIT IN SEASON // SCRIPTURE ILLUSTRATION

Rose Tinted Illustration

I feel like this verse speaks to me about how I need to read more scriptures. The bible is full of such wisdom and valuable life advice, and with it's knowledge I feel my life is more enriched. I've been enjoying turning words of wisdom from the scriptures into beautiful drawings like this one.

I illustrated this scripture from Psalms 1v2-3 as a commissioned gift for a lovely friend's mother as a birthday gift. I can't help but think of how sweet and thoughtful this is as a gift. Such encouraging words to send to a loved one. I'm also thankful that it is something that supports a little old illustrator like myself. I love giving my talents as a way to bless someone else.

ILLUSTRATIONS FOR MY MISSION 48 SPONSORS

All works by Rose Tinted Illustration

I've been overwhelmed by the generosity of friends and family that have sponsored me to do the Mission 48 famine. As promised, I have been working on the illustrations to send out to anyone who sponsored me more than $15. These are all original works and are a little way to use my talents to help a greater cause.

So far I have raised over $600.00 (NZD)! That is going to go a long way in planting Moringa trees in Cambodia & West Africa, helping Syrian refugees with their basic needs, contributing to a youth program in India and funding supplies for and occupational therapy clinic in Kasovo. The best part is I know that 100% of that money will be going to those causes!

I'm happy to say I made it successfully through the 48 hours of non-eating which trust me, wasn't easy. Especially when I had one of my dearest friend's dessert filled engagement party on the Saturday night! Torture I tell you! But soooooo worth it to know that a difference is being made. All because people decided to sacrifice their money to support me in my famine to make a world of difference.

On the Saturday morning half our group went out into Auckland City to hand out food to the homeless. This is something we do once a month, but it's harder when you know you can't eat. The other half of the group went to help a lovely lady who needed help with weeding out her garden. Simple acts that make such a difference because we gave our time, money and energy to help.

If you would still like to donate, it's not too late! Contact me through email at rosetintedillustration@gmail.com to find out how to sponsor me. I will send an illustration your way! x
