Blossom

You know its springtime when the trees start to blossom. I love spring firstly because I love flowers and secondly because it reminds me that summer is on it's way!

Lissy Elle Photography

How amazing is this photography by Lissy Elle? This young lady has such an imagination which translates so wonderfully into her pictures. Checkout the rest of her work, it will have you building forts out of bed sheets and finding a reason to have a tea party.

Pastel Hair Illustrations on Brown Paper

Here is a few works that were part of my final submission for last semester. The theme was pastel hair colour as it has become quite a trend to dye your hair in cotton candy tones. I really liked drawing on the brown paper as the highlights and shadows were both able to show up. Very useful when you're mainly using pastel hues!

A New Kind of Storytelling

I just love this lookbook for Red Valentino for their Fall 2012 collection. The illustrated backgrounds of garden settings are so lovely, and far better than just a plain white backdrop. It is like the model stepped into a storybook to reinvent it as a new narrative about fashion. The clothes are gorgeous! I'd love to wear everything pictured here, particularly the black tulle floral skirt with pink lining pictured in the last image.

Lamp & Roses

There is something about a lamp lit room that is just so warm and inviting. I particularly like the way the light illuminates the embossed wallpaper and creates shadows from the vase of roses. I took this photograph at my husband's Nana's colonial home which is full of vintage pieces from her days of working at an Antique Store. I love to visit, and I must say this is one of my favourite houses for its elegant and classic style.

"Lola with Flower Crown"

This is one of my own illustrations using collage and graphite pencil on pale pink paper. This was my first time at including collage in my creative practice, and I must say I like it! I always thought collage was cheating, since I like to draw all the components of my illustrations. Though I was proved wrong when making this work. I enjoyed the therapeutic process of cutting out the individual images (tedious as it was), and discovered it was a really effective way to demonstrate my visual aesthetic.

Romantic Style Book

I came across this gorgeous book at the library where I completely fell in love with the styling by Selina Lake. Everything about this  book is just stunning from the decoration to the photography. I adore the attention to detail and of course the vintage elements. Things with a highly considered and embellished design really appeal to me, perhaps that is why I treasure items from a prior time. I also love the indulgence of having fresh flowers in every room, it makes me wish it was spring all year round.

I got this book from the book depository.co.uk, if you would like a copy for your coffee table, click here.
